How to get to National Museum in Krakow

Walking from the Main Station in Krakow to the National Museum is a great way to get to know the city. The route is about 2 km long and takes 25-35 minutes on foot. On the way to one of the most important museums in Poland, you can admire the historic streets of Krakow, walk through the Main Market Square, pass the Planty Park and feel the unique atmosphere of the Old Town.

There are several parking options near the National Museum in Krakow, where you can safely leave your car:

  • Underground car park at Plac Na Stawach – paid, 24-hour parking, approx. 5 minutes’ walk from the Museum.
  • Car park at ul. Oleandry – above-ground, paid parking, approx. 400 meters away.
  • Car park at al. 3 Maja (Błonia) – large parking area, ideal for cars and coaches, approx. 7 minutes’ walk from the museum.
  • Car park at ul. Focha – available 24 hours a day, approx. 600 meters from the museum.

It is worth remembering that the area around the National Museum is in a paid parking zone, applicable on weekdays at designated hours.

Public transport in Krakow is well organised, and trams and buses run regularly. Tickets can be purchased from ticket machines at stops, on vehicles and using mobile apps.

From the Main Railway Station to the National Museum:
Tram line 20: Get on at the “Dworzec Główny Tunel” stop and get off at the “Muzeum Narodowe” stop.

Bus line 152: Get on at the “Dworzec Główny Zachód” stop and get off at the “Cracovia Stadion” stop, from which it is approx. 3 minutes’ walk to the Museum.

From Krakow Airport to the National Museum:
Train: A direct train from the airport to the Main Railway Station runs every 30 minutes. The journey takes approx. 17 minutes. At the station you can change to tram line 20 towards “Cichy Kącik”.
Bus Line 300: Get on at the “Kraków Airport 1” stop, get off at the “Cracovia Stadion” stop – from there it’s just a few minutes walk to the Museum.
