How to get to Wawel Royal Castle

On foot

A walk from the Krakow Main Station to Wawel Castle is a great way to get to know the city. The distance is only 2.6 km, which takes about 35-45 minutes on foot. By walking along this route, you can not only reach one of the most important monuments of Krakow, but also visit the surrounding area and enjoy the atmosphere of the city. By car

There are several parking options in the Wawel area where you can leave your car.

When planning your visit, it is worth remembering that the center of Krakow is a paid parking zone.

Public trransport

Public transport in Krakow is well organized, and trams and buses run frequently. Tickets can be purchased at ticket machines located at stops and in means of transport, as well as through mobile applications.

From the Main Railway Station to Wawel:

  • Tram Line 10: Get on at the Dworzec Główny” and get off at the stop Wawel.
  • Tram Line 52: Get on at the Dworzec Główny Tunel” and get off at the stop Wawel 2t.

From Krakow Airport to Wawel:

  • Train: A direct train from the airport to Krakow Main Station runs every 30 minutes. The journey takes approximately 17 minutes. At the Main Station you can change to tram line 10
  • By bus: Line 300 stop Kraków Airport 1″ towards Os. Podwawelskie”. Get off at the Rondo Grunwaldzkie stop and then change to tram number 52 , which will take you to the Wawel stop.
